Bulge – Hernia?

I’ve just noticed a bulge on Lady, our dobermann. It is about the size of a ping pong ball and located just behind the ribs on her side.

I have touched it and it feels soft and pliable and does not appear to cause her discomfort although I have refrained from prodding too hard. She has no other symptoms currently and seems happy in herself.

Obviously I will make an appointment with the vet tomorrow but it is rather worrying. It has appeared suddenly I think. I was not aware of it until a few minutes ago and its not the kind of thing that would go unnoticed for long.

I’m wondering if it could be some type of hernia.
